A Letterkenny Municipal Authority councillor has demanded a face-to-face meeting with Irish Water to discuss the town’s supply amidst concerns over the growth of the town.
Councillor Michael McBride said that there are fears a lack of water in the Cathedral Town could hamper the growth of infrastructure.
He referred to the town’s water treatment plant at Lough Salt which he said was almost as full capacity.
He added there was a major issue with councillors simply trying to secure a meeting with Irish Water to discuss the issue.
Councillor McBride said that councillors needed to put their concerns across a table with Irish Water officials.
“We simply have to look at how we are going to get the water to build houses in Letterkenny and it’s a major issue,” he told the latest meeting of the authority.
A spokesperson for the council said a clinic will now be held on November 23rd with Irish Water’s Regional Operation Lead and the matter can be listed on the agenda.
