Carndonagh/North Inishowen is the worst-impacted area for Covid-19 in the State, new data shows.
New cases trebled in the region in the past month. The 14-day incidence rate is now 1992.5 per 100,000 – twice the national average.
338 people were diagnosed with Covid-19 in the area in the past two weeks up to Monday.
Carndonagh now tops the table of the 10 highest incidence rates in the State. It is the only Donegal area to feature on the national table this week.
However, case numbers are up in six of Donegal’s seven local electoral areas.
Cases have doubled in the South Inishowen/Buncrana LEA, where 238 cases were confirmed in the past fortnight.
Cases have also doubled in the Milford area in the past fortnight, where the incidence rate is now 1241.7 per 100,000.
The only area to record a decrease in new cases was Donegal.
