The Buncrana Motley Crew Carol Singers are back in action this year to support charity campaigns at home and abroad.
The group were forced to take to the waves last year with a sea swim that raised €4000 for the Food Bank.
But this year they’re back on Main Street Buncrana on Saturday 18th December at 2.15pm.
All donations are going to the Afghanistan Food Crisis and The Exchange Buncrana.
“We have contact with a trusted humanitarian worker in Kabul so we are happy that all donations will be used appropriately,” said organiser Miriam Killeney.
The group is also hosting an information evening on Palestine on 25th of November in The Exchange Castle Ave Buncrana at 8.00pm.
Ms Killeney explains: “Since the last incursion into Gaza in May this year a small group of us have held a street stall on the main street in Buncrana on a weekly basis to highlight the situation in Palestine and promote the Boycott of Israeli goods.
“We have had a very positive response from the people in Buncrana and have a number of signatures of people who are interested in learning more about the current situation and its impact on ordinary people.
“We hope that the meeting will provide a concise history from someone who has spent time in Palestine, contributions from Palestinians currently living in Donegal with lived experience
Finally we will hear from members of the Derry Branch of The Irish Palestine Solidarity Group in relation to their work. From this meeting we hope to set up a support group in Buncrana in the near future.”
