The Buncrana ladies are pictured with the Donegal Shield and the runner up pennant for the Maire O’Donnell Inter Club League.

Buncrana Ladies who represented the club in both the Maire O’Donnell & Donegal Shield throughout the year.
Back from left – Margaret McColgan; Lorna Thompson; Pat Kyle; Niamh Britton; Carol McDaid; Deborah Doherty; Brenda Chauhan & Theresa McCrudden.
Front from Left – Margaret McAteer, Team Captain; Sarah Fitzpatrick; Helen Gallanagh & Michelle Duffy.
Missing from the photo is Maire Mc Reynolds who played on both the Maire O’Donnell and Donegal Shield team.

The ladies reached the final of the Maire O’Donnell after some fantastic results throughout the summer, defeating some very fancied teams on their way to the final. The Ladies disposed of the North West, Letterkenny and Bundoran during their run, but came up against a very strong Nairn & Portnoo team in the final and had to settle for runners up after a great tussle over the 2 legs.

In the Donegal Shield Competition which was hosted by the North West Golf Club back in September. Teams from all over Donegal took part and Buncrana ladies came out on top of the pile, after a superb display of golf on the day. The Ladies returned an impressive and unbeatable 116pts to clinch the Donegal Shield for the very first time in the clubs history.
Very well done ladies on a truly magnificent year of golf.

Winter League Week 5
The fifth week of qualifying took place last weekend in the Owen Mc Daid (Roe) Taxi & Mini-Bus Hire Winter League and the Sunday qualifiers are now sorted.

However as a result of the cancellation of week 4 for the Saturday players this Saturday 20th November will be used for the few pairings that still have to return a score. With the Sunday qualifiers there were only a couple of points between qualifying or not and there will be a few disappointed pairings this morning that have just missed out on one of those
coveted top 16 qualifiers spots. The overall top qualifiers over the 2 days was the formidable pairing of Paul Eccles & Kevin Mc Dermott and this pairing will be strong opposition for any pairings in the match play which will take place weekended 27th & 28th November.

Saturday 20th Owen McDaid (Roe) Taxi & Mini-Bus Hire Winter League: The pairings that didn’t return a score yet for Saturday week 4 qualifying will have the opportunity this Saturday to do so.

Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st – 18 Singles Stableford Sweep: As there are only a few pairings to return scores in the Saturday Winter League Qualifying there will be a 18 Hole Singles Stableford for the rest of the members to compete in.
Hamper Qualifying
The qualifying for the Christmas Hamper has started with 0-7 handicaps needing 20pts and 8+ handicaps needing 21pts over the 9 holes to qualify.
9 Hole Competitions
A new 9 hole competition format has commenced with 3 different handicap sections 0- 11, 12-19 and 20 +. There will be a separate prize for each category and when 20 returns are made in a category this competition will close and a new one started. The entry fee is €3.00 and re-entry is also €3.00. In order for this format to operate successfully it will be imperative that players do not disclose their scores and any scores disclosed before the competition closes will result in that player and their score being disqualified.
Membership
There are only a few places left for the new membership deal and the details are as follows; Male €440.00, Lady €282.00, Youth (18-23) €225.00, Complete Beginner Male €290.00 and Lady €220.00. This membership will start from now 2021 and run until March 1st 2023 and there is no hidden charge with all Golf Ireland and Insurance Fees included.
