Gardai believe they disturbed a burglar who was breaking into a private house in the Gleann Rua are of Letterkenny.
The incident took place shortly after 9pm on Saturday night last.
When Gardai arrived there was nobody there but an attempt had been made to break into the dwelling.
A window frame was damaged and internal glass slashed.
