There have been another 3,633 cases of Covid confirmed today with 634 people now in hospital with the virus.
Of these, 119 patients are being treated in intensive care.
The National Public Health Emergency Team also revealed there has been 43 newly notified deaths in the past week, bringing the number of notified Covid-related deaths in Ireland to 5,609.
Ireland has a 14-day incidence rate of over 1,160 cases of Covid-19 for every 100,000 people, according to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre.
The highest rates are seen in counties Louth, Leitrim and Westmeath.
The data shows that 891 healthcare staff were infected, which represents 1.6% of the total recorded in the past two weeks.
