North Inishowen/Carndonagh has recorded Ireland’s second highest Covid-19 infection rate this week.

335 people were diagnosed in the area in the past two weeks up to Monday.

While this figure is down from 338 in the last fortnight, the area remains on the list of the ten worst-affected areas in Ireland. Carndonagh topped the list last week.

The 14-day incidence rate is now 1974.8 per 100,000 – while the national average is 1,160.7.

New case numbers are up in six of Donegal’s seven local electoral areas this week.

The area with the sharpest rise was Lifford-Stranorlar, where new cases jumped from 174 last fortnight to 276.
