A Donegal Sinn Féin TD has hit out at suggestions that ‘Mica 100% Redress’ face masks should not be worn in the Dáil.
Reports from a Fianna Fáil parliamentary party meeting this week revealed that concerns were raised over branded coverings being worn in Leinster House and in the Dáil Chamber.
It is claimed that one Minister of State said that Sinn Féin TDs should not wear Mica masks during sessions.
Deputies Padraig Mac Lochlainn and Pearse Doherty are reguarly seen in the chamber wearing masks supporting the Mica campaign.
Mac Lochlainn took to social media to put out a defiant message – the mask stays.
Posting photos of himself, he said: “I am wearing my 100% Mica Redress face mask with pride today in the Dáil at Leader’s Questions.
“The Taoiseach and the Minister for Public Expenditure, Michael McGrath are directly across from me and I am reminding them to do the right thing by our people in Donegal and down the West of Ireland in the days ahead.”
