Ashleen Temple from Convoy came 5th place in the World Drug Free Powerlifting Championships in Monaghan on Saturday.
The 34-year-old started training 3 years ago and has been competing for just over 2 years.
The competition was a full power competition featuring three compound lifts, squat, bench and deadlift.
Ashleen began her training with Jim Collins but once Covid hit, it was all individual training but since the re-opening of gyms, she has been training in Ballybofey at Don Maguire Fitness.
Ashleen came first in the National Championships in August and trained hard from there to make qualifying weights for the World Championships.
On her performance at the weekend, Ashleen said: “I felt great getting so far in the competition as I trained very hard and put in a lot of work, training 5/6 days a week, so I was delighted to get a 5th placing in the Worlds.
“There is definitely more to come next year.”
