Donegal businessman sent for trial on rape and sex assault charges

A Donegal businessman has been sent forward for trial to the next sitting of the Cenrtal Criminal Court charged with rape and sexual assault.

The man appeared at Letterkenny District Court during a brief appearance yesterday.

He faces three charges including two of rape and one of sexual assault.

A publication order is in place which means the accused or his alleged victim cannot be named.

The alleged incidents are alleged to have occurred between unknowns dates on July 1st, 2017 and July 21st, 2017 and also between July 21st, 2018 and July 22nd, 2018.

No details of the alleged incidents were given in court.

The man did not speak during the brief court appearance.

The court was told there was no objection to bail but there were were already existing bail conditions in place.

His solicitor Donough Cleary was granted two counsel and also requested an IT consultant be provided in relation to his client’s defence.
