Power has been restored across Donegal following this widespread outages caused by Storm Barra.
Over 20,000 homes, businesses and farms in the county were affected by electricity outages this morning. Schools in West Donegal closed for the day due to the power cuts.
ESB crews worked on faults throughout the day and have been restoring supply remotely and on site when safe to do so.
With the storm still crossing the country, ESB warns that more damage and interruptions to supply can be expected. The damage is mainly attributable to fallen trees on overhead lines as a result of the high winds.
A Status Orange wind warning comes into effect for Donegal tonight, from 2am until 2pm Wednesday. Disruption to power and travel are likely, Met Eireann warns, as winds will reach mean speeds of 65 to 80 km/h with severe or damaging gusts of 100 to 130 km/h.
