A man in his 90s was found dead following a housefire in Glendowan early today.
The man, named locally as John Harley, was found at his home at Ard na Cruinn.
The late Mr Harley was well-known in the locality and was a sheep farmer.
Gardai, the fire service and the ambulance service all attended the scene.
However, Mr Harley was pronounced dead.
A Garda spokesman said “On Wednesday, 8th December 2021 at approximately 7.50am Gardaí were alerted following reports of a house fire in Churchill, Co. Donegal.
“A man in his 90s was located deceased inside the property. The Coroner was notified and the body of the deceased was removed to the mortuary at Letterkenny University Hospital.
“At this time the man’s death is being treated as a tragic accident. A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
