Unique book raises €5,000 for Donegal Down Syndrome

An adventure-inspiring book has raised super support for the Donegal Down Syndrome Association.

Earlier this year, Carrigart native Adrian Gallagher launched his new book – Wild Mountain Way Donegal on Foot and Alone – telling the story of his 400km journey on foot from one extremity of the county to the other.

Proceeds from the book would be in aid of Donegal Down Syndrome Association.

Since the summer, a fantastic €5,000 has been raised for the charity.

Last Friday, Donegal Person of the Year Noel Cunningham, along with Natasha Gilleece and David Crawford of Harvey’s Point were delighted to present a cheque on behalf of Adrian to Tom and Gearoid Melvin of the Donegal Down Syndrome Association.

Noel kindly launched Adrian’s book in the summer. Adrian also took the opportunity to say thank you by presenting Noel with a piece of Derryveagh Crystal.

The return from all future sales of the book’s print run will also go to the Donegal Down Syndrome Association.

Adrian said: “Copies of the book have gone across the World and it has been a hit with those with an interest in Donegal, outdoor pursuits or who just enjoy a good read. Copies of the book are still available and with Christmas coming up, they have become very popular as presents to send to those who are away from home and cannot get back to share Christmas with their friends or family this year.”

Books are still available in Bookmark, Swilly shop, Healthwise Pharmacies and other outlets across the county and online via the Donegal People website www.donegalpeople.com/wildmountainway

Adrian will be doing a book signing at Bookmark.ie in the Letterkenny Shopping Centre on Friday afternoon next, 10th December, from 1.00 to 3.00 p.m.
