The Government is aiming to have up to 1.5m people vaccinated with a third Covid jab before Christmas.

The booster programme is being rolled out across the country but there are some complaints of lengthy delays n some regions.

THere were no such complaints in Donegal.

People availing of the over 50s walk-in service in Letterkenny at the weekend said the queues were flowing freely.

Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris said now was the time to “boost the booster campaign” as the Department of Health confirmed four new Omicron cases have been detected.

Speaking on RTÉ, Mr Harris said an update on the programme would be published in the coming days and there was an eagerness to move ahead with third injections for the over 40s.

He also said it was “a race between the Omicron variant and the booster”.

Thousands of people were given Covid-19 booster jabs at walk in HSE vaccination clinics across the country throughout the weekend.
