The subsidy is expected to apply to bills in March or April of next year as legislation will need to pass through the Dáil early in the new year for the discount to be put into place.
The plans will go to Cabinet this morning and were developed by Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe, Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Michael McGrath, and Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan.
