Workers at McMenamin Engineering have paid a touching tribute to former colleague Finley Cole.
The 19 year old was killed last week following a collision on his motorbike in Killygordon.
Finley was returning home after finishing on a half day in the job he touch so much pride in.
Colleagues say the late Mr Cole was ‘dependable, confident and modest’ and that he will be deeply missed by all.
They also revealed his happy-go-lucky words to them as he left work just minutes before the tragedy.
This is their touching tribute to him.
“On Friday 10th December our colleague and workmate Finley Cole was involved in a tragic and fatal accident while on his way home from work. Finley was employed with Mc Menamin Engineering as a welder/fabricator for a few short months but in that time he gained the respect of his work colleagues in being a talented young man.
“Finley was dependable, confident and a modest person who possessed talents that many of us were not aware of in that he had a passion for Blacksmithing. At home in Ballaghaderren, he had a small forge and made pieces of jewellery, pendants, bottle openers, keyrings and other pieces under the name of “Black Bird Forge”. Some of Finley’s pieces have gone far beyond our shores.
“Leaving work on Friday his closing words to some of us were “have a good weekend and see you Monday”. Within hours the joy of the weekend turned to sadness and disbelief and yesterday evening we said our farewell to our 19-year-old colleague.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Finley’s partner Erica, his parents, family and friends who today must also say farewell to a partner, a son, and a brother. Finley, those whose lives you touched will miss you and may you Rest in Peace.”
