A Donegal man’s bus journey was made much merrier this week when he got a surprise Christmas card from a thoughtful girl.

Kieron Clarke from Ramelton was taking the Bus Eireann 64 bus to Derry on Saturday when he found an envelope that said “Stranger on the bus… OPEN ME”.

Inside was a card, written by a 12-year-old Kayleigh from Sligo. She placed the card on top of the  toilet block on her journey to school.

The card Kieron found on the Letterkenny to Derry bus

“Have a good day Stranger!” she wrote.

Kayleigh  continued: “Hello stranger, I just want to say Merry Christmas and if things aren’t great, things will get better eventually.”

Kieron was pleasantly surprised by the warm wishes and shared the feel-good card on his social media.

He said: “In a world where you can be anything, be more like Kayleigh, especially this Christmas. I certainly will.

“Merry Christmas Kayleigh!”

Kieron is now hoping to return the kindness with a video message of thanks to Kayleigh’s school.

“I was contemplating putting the card back on a bus so it continues its journey spreading festive cheer,” he said.
