Carlos O’Reilly played a crucial part as LYIT won their first ever Higher Education GAA Division 2 Freshers Football title against TUD last night at Breffni Park.
LYIT Captain O’Reilly scored a massive 10 points as his side won 1-15 to 4-05.
The Letterkenny team looked in control when 7 points up at half-time 1-11 to 2-01, Cian Rooney of Aodh Ruadh with the goal, but TU Dublin grabbed a couple more goals and went a point ahead with less than 5 minutes to go.
It was then that the St. Michael’s man stepped forward with his 9th and 10th points of the game to seal the victory in the 60th minute.
Jack Alcorn, Conor McGinty, Conor Dennehy and Bannon Corrigan got the other points.
