Two people were successfully rescued from the water in a late-night incident at Rathmullan last night.
Lough Swilly Lifeboat was launched at 12.44am this morning to go to the immediate assistance of two people in the water.
The volunteer crew were quickly on scene and removed the casualties from the water. Both were brought to safety and transferred to an ambulance at Rathmullan pier.
The lifeboat crew returned to Ned’s Point to refuel and make ready for service.
The successful operation was coordinated by Malin Head Coast Guard.
“We would like to thank the local an Garda Síochána Donegal for their assistance this morning,” said a spokesperson for Lough Swilly RNLI.
“If you’re in difficulty or see someone in or on the water in trouble please dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.”
