The Letterkenny Vaccine Centre will reopen tomorrow.

Over 40s can receive their booster at the walk-in clinic at the Letterkenny Business Park between 8:30am and 7:30pm.

People who are 30 years or older can avail of the no-appointment service on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday between the same hours.

Walk-in clinics for those age 50 and older will be on Friday and on Saturday for those who are 60 years or older.

HSE Chief Executive Paul Reid has urged people to get a vaccine, saying it is “never too late”.

Meanwhile, the HSE has said all 41 of its Covid-19 testing centres have fully reopened after a portion were closed and others operated reduced hours over the past two days.

It comes as almost 60,000 cases of the virus were confirmed in Ireland in the last week alone.

Since this day last week, 59,147 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed – almost 25,000 of those cases were recorded on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

There has been a rise in the number of people in hospital with Covid-19.

As of this morning, 461 people are in hospital with the virus – that is up 35 on the previous day.

While ICU figures have not been updated today, on 26 December a total of 91 people were in intensive care.

The Department of Health estimates that 83% of cases are now attributable to the Omicron variant.

Despite Government advice that up to four households can meet indoors over the Christmas period, the Chief Medical Officer has now appealed to people not to socialise or meet indoors with people from other households.

Dr Tony Holohan also asked people to avoid crowded places, including retail environments.
