A warning has been issued following the partial collapse of a beach boardwalk in West Donegal.

Part of the boardwalk Mullach Dearg beach near Kincasslagh has fallen in recent days.

The beach has been very popular over the Christmas holidays, but local Cllr Michael Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig is urging people to access it by other routes until repairs take place.

The top end of the boardwalk is currently closed off, but there are fears that people may not see the damage on dark mornings and evenings.

Cllr Mac Giolla Easbuig said: “I have been in contact with Donegal County Council and I want to recognise their quick response on this matter. They are hoping to get it fixed as soon as possible. In the meantime, it’s very important that people do not walk on it.

“I’d like to recognise the council staff who are taking time out over the holidays to work on this.”
