A weather warning has been issued ahead of freezing conditions tonight which may lead to treacherous travelling conditions.
Temperatures across Ireland are set to drop to lows of -3C bringing a widespread sharp frost with icy stretches and lowest temperatures.
Met Eireann’s Status Yellow warning is in place nationwide from 7pm this evening (Tuesday) until 10am Wednesday.
Donegal County Council gritters are being dispatched to all main routes from 8pm.
Tomorrow will remain cold, forecasters report: “Tomorrow, Wednesday will be cold and dry, with frost and ice patches slowly clearing during the morning and long, sunny spells developing. Highest temperatures of just 3 to 6 degrees with light, variable or westerly winds turning southerly later in the day.”
