RTE’s ‘Ear to the Ground’ not sheepish about Donegal!

RTE’s Ear to the Ground travel to Donegal in tomorrow’s show to feature the rare Valais sheep that are being bred in the county.

There are only about twenty Valais black nosed sheep breeders and eighty ewes in the Republic of Ireland, making the breed quite scarce.

These Valais are being raised for pedigree breeding rather than for meat production.

Cliodhna Muldoon from Trusk has been building her stock for the last three years, keeping eight ewes and three rams.

Ear to the Ground presenter Darragh McCullough visits her as she brings them to Mart in Stranorlar.

That’s Ear to the Ground on RTE One tomorrow (Thursday) at 7pm and repeated on Sunday at 1.10pm.
