Following a tremendous performance in the Swim Ireland Short Course Championships held just before Christmas last, Letterkenny student Molly Nulty has been invited to join Swim Ireland’s National Performance Transition Programme.
The targeted National Squad Programme is a key tactic in achieving the Performance objectives of Swim Ireland through to 2028.
The prestigious invitation to join the national squad is extended to a very select number of athletes based on their results in previous swimming competitions.
This achievement is a testament to 17-year-old Molly, her family and her coaches in the A Squad in the swimming club. Of note is the particular brand of expertise and encouragement Molly has, and continues to receive from her coaches.
In particular, the approach taken by head coach Paddy Bond who consistently places a resolute lens on nurturing talent in a holistic, measured and swimmer-centred way.
As with all of its swimmers, the club is extremely proud of and delighted for Molly and her richly deserved success as it amply demonstrates the dividends that can be achieved through application of her praiseworthy work ethic, focus and determination.
The future is very bright for the Loreto student as she prepares to embark on the next stage of her swimming journey and it will certainly prove to be a fascinating one to observe.
As well as national selection for Molly, previous club member Cody Dunnion has also been selected for the Swim Ireland’s National Performance Pathway Programme.
Though the Milford native is now a member of Bangor Swimming Club, Swilly Seals swimmers and coaches alike are always delighted to welcome him during his holiday trips back home and couldn’t be prouder of his success and the timely recognition for all of his hard work and determination with his swimming.
