Two people were arrested on suspicion of drink driving over the weekend in Donegal.

The arrests were made in the Ballybofey area on Saturday night.

Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit and Gardaí from Ballybofey Garda Station were involved in the detections.

Further incidents of speeding were reported in the county over recent days.

A driver in the Burnfoot area was detected travelling at 115KPH in an area which there is a 80KPH speed limit. They were issued with a fine by Buncrana Roads Policing Unit.

Gardaí are urging all motorists and road users to make road safety a priority in 2022.

A spokesperson said: “2022 is underway and unfortunately it would appear that the same type of road traffic related offences are continuing on the roads. Let’s all resolve to help save lives this year by making road safety a top priority.”
