The number of Donegal forced to miss work due to Covid-19 infection or self-isolation is now 1,188.
The number takes account of all people receiving the Enhanced Illness Benefit, where they have been medically certified as unable to work due to Covid-19 infection, or as they were self-isolating as a close contact. Some 25,073 people received the EIB payment from the Department of Social Protection this week, valued at €9.7 million.
A further 2,381 people in Donegal are receiving the Pandemic Unemployment Payment this week. The figure is up from 1,936 in the first week of January.
There are five weekly rates of PUP payable for these workers who lose their job as a result of the latest restrictions from 7th December. The rate of payment is determined by the person’s weekly earnings, namely €350, €300, €250, €208 and €150.
