B&S Credit Union Ballybofey is now seeking a Risk Officer to join its management team.
The Ballybofey & Stranorlar Credit Union, with assets of €74 Million and a membership of more than 13,000, is a dynamic credit union committed to providing a broad range of innovative financial products to its members, supported by the excellent service of a dedicated and experienced staff.
It operates from its main office in Main Street Ballybofey with a sub-office in Castlefinn.
The successful candidate, as a member of the management team will report to the CEO and to the Board in the implementation and management of the Risk Framework.
Main Duties
· Develop, manage, and implement appropriate controls and frameworks in line with regulatory requirements and guidelines, and internal requirements, to mitigate risk across the business.
· Provide risk reports to the CEO and Board in accordance with the Risk Management Framework.
· Constructively engage with the CEO and Board in the continuous development and implementation of the credit union’s policy and strategy for risk and IT Security management
· Conduct regular risk assessments across the credit union to identify, monitor and report key risks throughout the business.
· Ensure the ongoing monitoring of the operating environment including changes and developments in regulations and best practice, to make recommendations to the Board to improve the relevant risk management systems.
· Ensure that Risk management processes are embedded in the culture, operations and systems used by all officers, driving and exemplifying adherence to agreed policies, procedures, and applicable regulation.
· Provide advice and assistance to the CEO and Board in all areas on which risk has impact (e.g., launch of new products and services).
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
· Relevant third level qualification
· Experience working within the financial services’ industry – Credit Union experience an advantage
· Prior experience working within a control function such as risk, compliance, internal audit, or conduct
· A comprehensive understanding of organisational governance, risk management policies and procedures and experience in developing and implementing same
· Experience of working within a team with the ability to be flexible to the demands of the business and the team
· Clear strong communications skills, both written and verbal coupled with good interpersonal and presentational skills
· Strong IT skills
· After appropriate training, to use and manage risk management software packages without supervision.
Desirable skills
- An understanding of the ethos of credit unions and sectoral challenges is desirable
