LYIT freshers conceded a last minute goal as they suffered an opening game loss to UUJ in the Higher Education Division 1 Fresher Football Championship last night.
The Letterkenny side were in control of the Group A match with minutes left as they led by two points but Ulster University Jordanstown rallied and found the back of the net with seconds left on the clock to make it 2-07 to 1-09.
Just before Christmas, LYIT won their first ever Higher Education GAA Division 2 Freshers Football title against TUD at Breffni Park. A 1-15 to 4-05 win, with Carlos O’Reilly getting 10 points, saw them claim the title.
The Luke Barrett managed LYIT’s next Division 1 game is scheduled for next Thursday in O’Donnell Park against St. Mary’s Belfast.
