A large number of schools in Donegal will observe a minute’s silence this Tuesday in memory of Ashling Murphy.

The beloved teacher will be remembered by school communities nationwide at 11am.

The Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO), the Association of Secondary Teachers’ Ireland (ASTI), the Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI) and Fórsa have issued a joint call to schools to participate.

The minute’s silence will coincide with the Funeral Mass at St. Brigid’s Church in Mount Bolus.

Gardaí are continuing their investigations into the murder of 23-year-old Ashling in Tullamore, Co. Offaly on Thursday last. Detectives are preparing to question the chief suspect today, who is understood to still be receiving hospital treatment for a number of injuries.
