New ‘parklet’ areas and an outdoor dining area are expected to be installed in Letterkenny by spring this year.
Plans are in place to install urban furniture ‘parklets’ in parking spaces at three locations on Main Street, as well as a permanent dining area on Port Road.
Donegal County Council is moving forward with the €40,000 parklet project after the first tender process in September fail to get any bids. Discussions are now taking place with three suppliers/manufacturers on design, timeline and costs, with a view to retender in the coming weeks.
A separate ‘Eat Out’ facility is to be installed at An Grianan Theatre by the second quarter of 2022. €137,000 was allocated by Failte Ireland for the permanent weather-resistent structure on the Port Road, which will cater for domestic and international tourists outdoors.
Councillors of the Letterkenny-Milford MD were told last week that Donegal County Council’s Capital Delivery team is set to work on detailed design and procurement with a view to delivery of ‘The Eat Out’ in the second quarter of 2022.
