Two swimmers have been rescued after getting into difficulty in the water off Falcarragh beach this afternoon.
The alarm was raised by a member of the public after two swimmers were thought to have been caught in a riptide.
Rescue 118 Helicopter, Mulroy Coast Guard, gardaí and the ambulance service were called to the scene and the men were brought to safety. They have been taken to Letterkenny University Hospital as a precaution.
The rescue was coordinated by Malin Head Coast Guard. A spokesperson said: “Fortunately this rescue had a good outcome. We would ask people if they see anything untoward, to call in. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Thankfully these people were rescued and got the medical attention they needed and hopefully they will make a full recovery.”
If you’re in difficulty or see someone in or on the water in trouble please dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.
