Locals have had their concerns eased after confirmation that the Rescue 118 helicopter is on exercise duty in the Dunfanaghy area tonight.
A number of locals contacted Donegal Daily querying why a search was taking place in and around the New Lake area.
They reported that the helicopter was involved in a search using its high-powered spotter beam.
However, a spokesperson for Malin Head Coastguard Radio Station confirmed the Rescue 118 was merely taking part in a planned exercise drill.
