Counties Donegal and Monaghan have the lowest Covid-19 vaccine uptake rates in the Republic, according to the latest data from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC).

87.5% of people aged over 12 years are fully vaccinated in Donegal. The lowest figure is in Monaghan, at 87.1%.

However, the rate in Donegal has increased from 83.9% since the beginning of January, and the update among people aged over 80 in Donegal is 99.9%.

Wexford boasts the highest rate overall at 99.9% of the county’s population over 12.

COVID-19 Vaccination Uptake in Ireland Weekly Report – Week 2 (week ending 16 January 2022)

The HPSC reports that booster and additional doses have been administered to over 67% of eligible adults and 61% of those over 12 years of age.

The HSE is reminding all those with a weak immune system aged 16 and over that they can avail of their booster dose, at least three months after their additional vaccination dose, in line with NIAC guidance.

People who need an additional dose or booster dose will receive a text message with an appointment for their vaccine. (You do not need to register or contact anyone.) These additional doses may be given through a HSE vaccination centre near you, or your hospital if you’re an inpatient. Participating pharmacies and GPs may also vaccinate some people.
