Gardaí in Letterkenny are seeking to identify a male who attempted to steal a jeep from a coal merchants yard yesterday morning.
The incident occurred between 12.25am – 12.30am on Monday morning at a premises close to the junction of the Canal Road and the Pearse Road.
The gate to a coal merchants yard was forced open and an attempt was made to steal a Jeep from the yard by ramming the gate. Gardaí said the attempt was unsuccessful and no property was stolen.
CCTV is being examined in relation to the investigation.
Sergeant Eunan Walsh has confirmed that gardai have footage of a young male in dark clothing with a fur hood on his coat who travelled on foot from the Pearse Road from the Station Roundabout direction into the premises. He left a short time later, again in the direction of the Pearse Road.
Gardaí are appealing to taxi drivers who were in the area at the time to make their dashcam footage available to them.
