Man arrested following ‘armed incident’ at Newmills

A man has been arrested following an armed incident in the Newmills are outside Letterkenny last night.

The incident happened in the Roughan area at approximately 9pm.

Donegal Daily understands the incident stems from a dispute over land.

A man in his 60s was arrested and is currently being held at Letterkenny Garda Station.

A Garda spokesman confirmed “Gardaí were called to the scene of an incident in the Newmills area of Letterkenny, County Donegal, on the evening of Tuesday, 25th January, 2022.

A man in his 60s was arrested and he is currently being detained at Letterkenny Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

“No injuries were reported during the course of this incident. Investigations are ongoing.”
