The late Harry McGowan.

The club paid tribute to him in a message on their Facebook page.

“It’s been a sad few days for the Butt Drama Circle as we mourn the passing of one of our founding members, the much loved and respected Harry McGowan,” the message read.

“Harry had a rich and varied involvement with our club, spanning 60 years, through lighting design and acting. We offer our sincere condolences to his wife and leading lady, Kathleen, and his children Cathy, Darragh, Jim and David, granddaughter Clodagh and extended family.”

Predeceased by his brother, Sonny, the late Mr McGowan is also survived by sister Margo and brother, Patsy.

His funeral left his late residence at Navenny this morning for Requiem Mass at 12 noon in St Mary’s Church, Sessiaghoneill.

He was laid to rest afterwards in the adjoining churchyard.
