A Status Yellow wind warning for Donegal comes into effect this afternoon.
Met Éireann has warned that wind gusts of up to 100kph will lash the county.
An alert message from the national forecaster warned “Southwest winds veering northwest will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h with gusts of up to 100km/h.
“Strong winds combined with high seas may lead to wave overtopping in coastal areas.”
It issued a yellow alert warning for the winds.
The warning comes into effect from 2pm this afternoon until 3am on Monday morning.
The UK Met Office has a similar warning for counties Derry, Antrim and Down.
