Up to 30 new jobs are to be created as a result of a major extension at one of Donegal’s top hotels.

The Shandon Hotel & Spa is nearing completion on a new bar extension which will include bi-fold doors, overlooking beautiful Sheephaven Bay.

The new development swiftly follows the lobby refurbishment which was completed just before reopening in summer 2021.

Carolynne Harrison, General Manager and Director, said that the next project is a complete refurbishment of their leisure centre within the main hotel building.

“We are so excited to bring a state of the art new facility to their guests and the local community,” she told Donegal Daily.

She also confirmed there are plans to enhance and extend the spa to include a spa-type village, right on the Wild Atlantic Way.

Carolynne Harrison, manager of the Shandon Hotel

“Looking at the business on the books, I am hopeful that the worst of the pandemic is behind us, and we can look forward to a busy couple of years as everyone enjoys life again,” added Ms Harrison.

“If the pandemic taught us all anything, it is to live your life when you can!”

As a result of the extension and growth plans, The Shandon Hotel & Spa is seeking to increase their team to elevate our service excellence.

“We are committed to maximising talent and ensuring that those with commitment and drive to their trade are rewarded and we facilitate their career progression,” Ms Harrison said.

“Our core management team have been with us now from the day we opened as a new resort in March 2016.  We are a modern company who offers flexibility and a good work life balance.  Wellness is important to us because we are in the business of promoting it, so we do what we can to offer flexible terms and to support our employee’s best we can.”

Every employee who joins The Shandon is entitled to full leisure club membership as part of their package, delicious staff lunch menu and favourable rates of pay for the right candidates.

“The environment is supportive and the views on your way to work, and whilst you work, never fail to enhance your mood!”

Staff accommodation can be negotiated as part of a package, depending on each individual circumstance and availability.

If you have a positive can-do attitude and you always dreamed of working in a luxury hotel right on the wild Atlantic coast, get in touch today with CV & cover letter.

“We are open through all seasons – we are busy even in winter so if you want permanent full time, part time or if you prefer seasonal and weekend work, we want to hear from you as we are now recruiting students for the high season.”
