Finn Valley athlete Oisín Ó Gailín broke a University of Wyoming record last weekend in Colorado.
Ó Gailín was 4th in the men’s seeded mile with a time of 4:06.49, converted to 4:00.41 at sea level, breaking the record previously set in 1978.
The Dreenan athlete was representing the University of Wyoming at the Colorado Invitational when posting the time, described by coach as a “big performance”.
Oisín started in Wyoming in 2021 after graduating from The University of Tennessee at Martin, double majoring in Statistics and Geoscience while breaking plenty of school records including the Indoor Mile, Distance Medley Relay, Outdoor 1500m and the outdoor mile.
He will be hoping to set the same standard of records with his new University while pursuing a Masters in Statistics.
Oisín will be looking to go one better at the next meeting next weekend.
