A meeting of Donegal County Council has been adjourned for the second time this afternoon, with suspended Councillor Frank McBrearty refusing to leave.
Independent Cllr McBrearty was handed a one-month suspension from council meetings last Monday. However, he presented himself in the Aura Leisure Centre today for the adjourned January meeting.
Cathaoirleach Jack Murray called an adjournment as soon as the meeting began at 1.30pm. By 3pm, with Cllr McBrearty remaining in the room, a second adjournment was called.
“Cllr McBrearty is continuing to be present and defy the resolution,” Cllr Murray said, adding that councillors are being prevented from discussing issues such as Mica, planning and windfarm development.
The meeting is due to resume at 3.30pm.
