A status yellow wind warning has been issued for Donegal, Galway and Mayo tonight.
From 3pm, the west will be hit with strong or southwest winds gusting up to 100km/h.
The alert is in place until midnight tonight. A status yellow gale warning is also in place for all coasts from midday today until 2pm Saturday.
Donegal will also see heavy rain, clearing to blustery scattered showers later in the night.
It will be a cool night with temperatures of between 6 to 8 degrees.
Tomorrow, Saturday, will be a wet and blustery day with widespread showers or longer spells of rain.
The unsettled conditions are set to continue into the next week.
