One of Ireland’s biggest unions has advised its members not to engage with Donegal County Councillor Frank McBrearty.
The Fórsa union represents thousands of workers including members of Donegal County Council staff.
The Donegal branch of the union has contacted local members to inform them not to engage with the Raphoe local politician.
It is understood the directive comes following social media posts put up by Cllr McBrearty.
The letter instructs members not to engage with Councillor McBrearty by telephone or to have any face-to-face meetings with the embattled councillor.
The letter says this situation will be reviewed by the union as the situation develops.
Councillor McBrearty was suspended by Donegal County Council for a month two weeks ago but refused the accept the suspension and turned up at last week’s meeting of the council at the Aura Leisure Centre.
The meeting was again suspended and Gardai were called at one stage.
