Several speeding drivers were caught breaking the limit during spells of poor weather over the weekend.
Gardaí in Lifford carried out a speed check in a built-up area at Murlog on Sunday. The speed limit is 60kph, but a number of vehicles were detected at higher speeds. One motorist was travelling at 85kph in the area.
“The roads were very wet at the time,” a garda spokesperson said.
“The roads are wet at present and it takes longer to stop a vehicle on a wet surface. Please slow down and allow extra distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front.”
Elsewhere in Buncrana, a speed check on N13 road to Letterkenny caught a driver doing 123kph in a 100kph zone.
Drivers who break the speed limit get 3 penalty points and a fixed charge fine of €80.
