A woman was seriously assaulted and had to be hospitalised following a vicious attack in Letterkenny.
The woman was crossing the road at Port Road in the early hours of Wednesday morning last, February 10th when she was set upon.
It is understood the victim was attacked by both a man and a woman.
The attack happened around 1.45am.
Gardai have appealed for anybody who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the attack to contact them in Letterkenny on 0749167100.
Garda Sgt Paul Wallace said that while he understood the woman’s injuries are not life-threatening this was a very serious incident.
“We’re investigating the circumstances and background to the attack but anybody with any information should contact us,” he said.
