Man stopped driving vintage car had no insurance

A man who had just bought a vintage car in Kilmacrennan had no insurance when stopped by Gardai.

Gardai stopped Pawel Urbanek in Milford on March 23rd last year.

The 39-year-old welder from Streamstown in Co Westmeath had travelled to Donegal to collect the car.

However, he admitted the car was not insured and the vehicle was seized.

His solicitor, Ms Donna Crampsie, told the court he client later insured the car.

She pleaded with Judge Deirdre Gearty not to ban her client as he needed his license for work.

Judge Gearty remarked that he hardly drove a vintage car to work.

However, she decided she would not disqualify him from driving on this occasion but did fine him €250.
