Buncrana Roads Policing Unit detected a car travelling at 101KPH in a 60KPH speed zone this evening in the Fahan area.
The novice driver was issued with a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice (€80 fine and 3 penalty points)
Gardai have pleaded with drivers to slow down this evening and into tomorrow with weather conditions getting worse.
A spokesperson said “Weather conditions are treacherous and visibility is poor.
“If you absolutely must travel, please drive safely and slow down.”
