Met Eireann has issued a status yellow snow/ice warning due to another period of wintry weather.
The alert will be in place from 10pm tonight until 10am Thursday.
Forecasters warned: “Blustery showers of hail, sleet and snow with icy stretches on untreated surfaces will lead to hazardous driving conditions on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.”
The local forecast says: “Feeling raw tonight with brisk westerly winds feeding in some snow, sleet and rain showers. Possible isolated thunderstorms too. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +1 degrees; feeling even colder owing to an added wind chill factor. Some frost and ice will set in also, especially in sheltered areas.”
Today will begin with a mix of sunny spells and scattered blustery showers, with heavy rain to move into the northwest later this morning. Scattered wintry showers will begin in the evening.
