Access to one of Donegal’s most popular beaches has been severely restricted following recent storms.
Locals have advised visitors to take extra care as several access points are now impassable at high tide and difficult at low tide.
The sea has carved out a deep drop in the sand at the main steps. The lane access in front of the caravan parks is closed off as the stream has been turned up against sandhills. There is also uneven access from the bay end, where it is now very rocky and only passable at low tide.
“It just goes to show the power of stormy seas,” said one beachgoer.
