People all across the Milford district are being encouraged to lend a helping hand to the Big Spring Clean this Saturday, March 12th from 11am to 1pm.
Milford & District Resource Centre is coordinating the annual community clean up across six areas: Milford, Kerrykeel, Cranford, Ray, Rathmullan and Ramelton in partnership with the local Tidy Towns committees and community centres. Donegal County Council are also kindly providing support to the initiative.
Everyone is encouraged to get involved and tidy up their own local areas and roads. The Big Spring Clean is a great way to get out and enjoy some fresh air, and meet your neighbours while improving your local area. Littering is a major issue in Ireland, with plastic pollution in particular often making its way to waterways and harming wildlife.
Manager of Milford & District Resource Centre Declan Meehan said “Last year’s Big Spring Clean was a huge success, with more than 300 people out across the different areas. We are hoping to replicate that success and to remove waste and litter from our road sides, our villages and various beauty spots around the district. We invite everyone to get involved and to do their bit to give the locality a tidy ahead of St Patrick’s weekend and the spring season.”
Litter pickers, bin bags and gloves can be picked up from the MDRC office, or from local Tidy Towns committees ahead of the clean up or on Saturday morning. Participants are encouraged to take before and after photos, as well as photos of their litter picking groups.
