A remarkable suite of new music by composer Vincent Kennedy, Colmcille, Dove of Peace, will have its world premiere performance at An Grianán Theatre on this Sunday afternoon, March 13th. at 3.00pm.

The work has been specially commissioned for Colmcille 1500 and has been inspired by significant happenings in the life of Donegal’s most famous saint.

Through titles such as The Birth Cloak, Doire Colmcille, Monks and Chieftains, Trasna go Dál Riada, Nessie and Colmcille and the Book of Kells, the new composition weaves its way through Colmcille’s eventful life, from noble beginnings at Gartan to the pinnacle of his monastic achievements on the island of Iona, reflecting on his life, legacy and popular folklore in equal measure.
